If you made it through my post on note taking and were interested in nvALT, but use Windows. I found an alternative that works just as well. It is called ResophNotes and is a free alternative for Windows.
I just installed it on my work machine the other day and so far it looks pretty good. I haven’t quite figured out how to navigate the entire app through the keyboard yet, but that is just a matter of learning the windows version of the shortcuts. Through some exploration I have realized that the tagging support is not all that streamlined. It happens through a dialog that requires clicking on an icon to add a new tag and clicking checkboxes to apply tags to a note. Also, the global shortcut will give the application focus, but doesn’t re-hide it when pressed again.
It will sync with SimpleNote just like nvALT so if you work on both Windows and Mac, you can keep your notes up to date on both platforms. I’m not planning on syncing my work notes, but the option is there.
If given the choice between the two applications, I would choose nvALT hands down, but this does a good job of filling the void on Windows.
